Rated in the TOP 150 English Courses, the Lakeland, Parkland and Woodland at “The Dorset” were designed by the prolific course designer Martin Hawtree. Hawtree has received international acclaim for his excellent work re-designing Royal Birkdale for the British

Open and his more recent design of the 5 Star Trump International Links in Aberdeen for Donald Trump in Scotland. With these projects under his belt Martin Hawtree is considered one of the best course designers in the world today having also added his touches to St Andrews on behalf of the R&A. This means in design terms, the courses here at “The Dorset” have a pedigree that is undeniable.

Hawtree is renowned for his tricky clover shaped bunkers and large and deceptive undulating greens which is what you will find here at “The Dorset”. The Woodland Course is uniquely carved through a Rhododendron Forest offering a tough positional Challenge. There is also an annual Augusta esq floral display in May & June with wall to wall flowers lining the fairway on every hole!

The courses are all renowned for playing very differently in the summer and winter. In the winter the greens show off their fantastic drainage with the course never closes due to wet weather.

In the summer the course drys out and plays very much like links golf. Hawtree purposely designed the greens to have clever run ins and tricky run offs. Truly a Unique test what ever the time of year. The Courses when combined with the 5 Star Accommodation and other facilities at “The Dorset” has launched the complex into the TOP 50 Golf Resorts to visit within GB&I for 2020.
