ROYAL ASHDOWN FOREST GOLF CLUB OLD COURSE
Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club, located off the leafy lanes of Forest Row in the heart of East Sussex’s Winnie The Pooh country, provides an attractive mix of high quality heathland golf, old school charm, and welcoming hospitality for both the casual green fee golfer and visiting groups and societies.
The club’s renowned Old Course, which regularly hosts county, national and international events, is quite rightly regarded as one of the finest and championship layouts in the country, with its current ranking of 31st in Golf World’s top 100 English courses being a fair reflection of the quality on offer. Visitors can also enjoy the club’s sister venue, the par-68 West Course, for a 36-hole day to remember.
Famous for having no bunkers, the 6,500-yard layout’s reputation as a true test of golf is undiminished thanks to hazards of heather, narrow fairways, subtle hollows and numerous streams.
Hole highlights are plenty, including the ‘island green’ at the short sixth and the par-five 8th which plays to a punchbowl green, but the magnificent par-three 11th – at 245 yards it is the longest ‘short hole’ in the county – is hard to beat, with the elevated tee offering stunning views across East and West Sussex and the North Downs of Surrey and Kent.
The club offers a comprehensive package of bespoke days for corporate and societies of eight players or more, and can tailor packages to meet your needs and budget.
