Cleeve Hill GOLF CLUB

Cleeve Hill is the setting for a magnificent 18-hole heathland course that enjoys commanding views over the stunning Gloucestershire countryside.

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, encompassing the highest point of the Cotswolds, the 6,400-yard, par-71 course is commonly referred to as an inland links due to its tight, undulating fairways and the almost constant influence of the wind.

The layout, which features three par 5s, four par 3s and 11 par 4s, represents a good test of golf for all, from the low handicapper to the complete beginner, with the forward yellow tees taking the overall length down to 6,083 yards.

The signature hole is the 13th – a 488-yard par 5 from the white tees and a 435-yard par 4 from the yellows – where the green is set in an old Anglo-Saxon encampment and affords excellent views stretching from Cheltenham to the Malvern Hills, the Black Mountains, Forest of Dean and Severn Crossings.

The 153-yard, par-3 15th offers a carry of 130 yards over an old stone quarry to reach the green that requires as little as a wedge to a 3-iron, depending on the strength and direction of the wind. With free-draining soil, the course is rarely closed due to rain and never has to resort to temporary greens. Before and after your round, the Cleeve Hill clubhouse offers a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere, with the restaurant offering a daily specials board and a full bar menu throughout the day. Golf societies are welcome seven days a week with a choice of packages available to suit groups of 10 or more.
