THE DYKE GOLF CLUB
BRIGHTON | SUSSEX
Dyke Golf Club is a historic members’ golf club located on the South Downs just outside Brighton and is widely regarded as one of the finest downland courses in southern England.
Founded in 1906 and originally influenced by renowned course designer James Braid, the club offers a traditional yet progressive golfing environment that appeals to both members and visiting players.
Situated approximately 650 feet above sea level, the course enjoys panoramic views across Brighton & Hove, the English Channel and the surrounding South Downs National Park. Its elevated position and open landscape create a classic downland test, where fast-draining fairways, firm greens and ever-present coastal breezes provide a challenging and varied playing experience throughout the year.
The 18-hole, par-72 layout has evolved over time, including redesign work following the Second World War, and today presents a strategic test requiring accuracy, creativity and course management. The course is known for its excellent year-round playability due to natural drainage, making it particularly popular during the winter months.
Beyond the golf course, the club offers a welcoming and sociable atmosphere, with modern clubhouse facilities including a bar, restaurant and function spaces. These amenities support a range of events such as weddings, corporate functions and private celebrations, reinforcing the club’s role as both a sporting venue and community hub.
Overall, Dyke Golf Club combines heritage, scenic beauty and high-quality golf to deliver a distinctive experience in one of Sussex’s most picturesque settings.
